About CIDCO
The Interdisciplinary Centre for the Development of Ocean Mapping (CIDCO) is a marine geomatics applied research and development center based in Rimouski. Its mission is to modernize hydrography through research, development, training, and technology transfer, with a focus on sustainable and innovative practices.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Projects and Training, the selected candidate will contribute to applied research projects, field surveys, and the development of new technologies related to the acquisition, processing, and analysis of marine spatial data. The role also involves participation in CIDCO’s professional hydrography training program.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in field campaigns (at sea or on land) to acquire hydrographic and oceanographic data.

Process, analyze, and format collected data (bathymetry, tides, currents, etc.).

Develop and implement systems and methods to optimize marine data acquisition and dissemination.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary experts (hydrographers, surveyors, oceanographers, programmers, etc.).

Prepare technical reports and contribute to scientific publications.

Support knowledge transfer and training for partners, particularly through CIDCO’s e-learning and practical training program in hydrography.
Requirements

University degree (undergraduate or graduate) in engineering or science (geomatics, oceanography, geography).

Minimum two years of experience in mobile data acquisition (marine, airborne, or terrestrial platforms).

Strong knowledge in geodesy, observation theory, and adjustment methods.

Skills in programming and numerical data processing (Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Scilab, Fortran).

Familiarity with hydrographic software (CARIS, QINSy, Kongsberg SIS, etc.) and GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS).

Excellent communication skills in both French and English.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, scientific, and multidisciplinary environment.
Employment Conditions

Full-time position – 35 hours/week

Salary range: $45,000 to $90,000, depending on qualifications and experience
